Douglas Developments 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

After the world was put on pause for nearly two years Douglas Homes and Douglas Developments were very excited to once again host their 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 29, 2022. Taking place at the beautiful Hamptons Golf Club, more than 80 golfers hit the tees for a shotgun start followed by a buffet dinner.

Douglas Homes has annually hosted this tournament in support of Breast Cancer Canada and this year raised a monumental $15,910. With the tournament fully paid for by Douglas Homes and Douglas Developments, all proceeds from every registration, 50/50 ticket, mulligans, auction and sponsorships were donated to Breast Cancer Canada. The generosity of every participant and donor, and notably our sponsors; The Royal Bank, Advantage Heating, Melcor Developments, Madlee Developments, Woodcraft Kitchen Cabinets, Sugimoto Law and Bluecon Excavating helped make this donation possible.

The tournament consisted of a 2:30 p.m. shotgun start where players either played best ball or their own ball. On most holes throughout the course there was a competition or fun activity set up and hosted by Douglas Homes employees. Players had multiple chances at prizes by playing giant Jenga, Caddyshack trivia and even seeing who could hit a marshmallow the furthest. All photos from the 15th hole photobooth are posted on our Facebook page here. The weather was immaculate and the energy of reconnecting with industry peers was unmistakable.

Douglas Homes has championed Breast Cancer Canada through each year of their annual tournament as it is a cause near and dear to them. When Douglas Homes co-owner Leanne was just 28 years old, her mother lost a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 55, and more recently, a close friend of hers was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 53 years old.

According to Breast Cancer Canada – “In Canada, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime. This year alone, that’s ~28,000 Canadians who will be diagnosed with the disease. That’s why funding for precision oncology (personalized treatment) breast cancer research is so important for Canadians. It’s research that advances screening and detection, that advances patient reported outcomes, and research that enhances patient care with breast cancer.”

A sincere thank you to everyone who donated and attended the 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament hosted by Douglas Homes and Douglas Developments. See you next year!
